http://www.ted.com What would happen if we could generate power from our windowpanes? In this moving talk, entrepreneur Justin Hall-Tipping shows the materials that could make that possible, and how questioning our notion of 'normal' can lead to extraordinary breakthroughs.
TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http://www.ted.com/translate.

THANK YOU!

population control stop breeding peeps

Gives me a bit of hope

Superlortenar is unfortunately right, doesn't mean they don't work, just that they get purchased and buried.
rhodesphotoco - 25.4.2012 6:50:45
If they sell the tech, the tech gets locked in sub-basement warehouse under the water powered engine and between the hoverboard and the Ark of the convenant.
rhodesphotoco - 25.4.2012 6:45:17
NSA super-computers drown the internet in trolls to convolute the discussion, or the public education system drowns society in dullards for the same reason AND wrapping burgers at the BK.
rhodesphotoco - 25.4.2012 6:40:11
You makes some good points, and this is definately the type of discussion that should be going on everywhere right now. You mentioned that energy abundance would cause the pop. to explode, but abundance and freedom from want of necessity slows the birthrate dramatically as there isn't a struggle to pass genes into the future like there is in the 3rd world. Global energy abundance would amelierate most human woes. Plus, low-impact and high-efficiency energy would cure enviromental woes, duh.
Jioxer - 20.4.2012 2:10:24
Humane kind will overcome. It is easier for someone to make their own smart car then a gas one so I see humane kind coming out on top if we stay focused.

Wow...impressive! This is most definitely the way forward.
TheTruthNothinMore - 11.4.2012 23:54:44
I just want to let you know that we are not in disagreement on the whole free energy tech. I know there are suppressed technologies that would transform our entire society. The point I was trying to make is that the people that keep these technologies secret do so because they know that the human race would grow out of their control. That is it. Without control over energy they have no control over the people.
TheTruthNothinMore - 11.4.2012 23:01:59
Perhaps...but "green" energy is still inefficient on purpose. The oil companies create artificial scarcity of oil on purpose. The "green" energy movement is meant to slow population growth. The big billionaires are worried that access to free or even nearly free energy will cause the world population to grow out of their control.
Method9 - 11.4.2012 7:13:00
actually they plan on buying the patents so that they dont have to revamp their oil infrastructure
cr0uchingtiger - 24.3.2012 15:18:19
this guy earned his standing ovation. The scientists of today HAVE to give a fuck because the politicians certainly do not.
HolisticStella - 21.3.2012 13:46:53
I wish politicians had these kind of vision...
TheTruthNothinMore - 19.3.2012 21:22:29
These alternate forms of energy aren't more efficient and better. They are meant to restrict humanity's movement. Fossil fuels unleashed our potential as a species to grow and branch out. Green energy is to slow us down. I know for a fact this is going to cause you discomfort to hear, but it is the truth.
TheTruthNothinMore - 19.3.2012 21:18:37
It isn't free. Energy will never be free. Do you realize the problems that free energy would create for mankind? The powers that be are still trying to figure out how they are going to deal with overpopulation as a result of fossil fuels being so cheap and plentiful for so long. The problem isn't that there 't enough space for the people to live. The problem is that there won't be enough food and other resources to sustain the boom in population.
Ynot2013 - 13.3.2012 18:06:06
Unfortunately free energy was killed over 100 years ago when Tesla was shut down because he wanted to produce free energy. The big money people do not like energy they can not harness for their benefit. We must get these things going without big money getting involved.
hmsixsixsix - 5.3.2012 16:42:15
Why in the hell would someone dislike this? Dipshits.
squeeks555 - 23.2.2012 20:59:34
whats holding Justin Hall back??? he seems to pretty much have all the pieces worked out. where is are free energy?
samster92 - 21.2.2012 0:40:32
I've seen this single TedTalk almost a hundred times now.
roflex2 - 14.2.2012 9:43:57
They will if they can sell the tech, they can sell this tech. It would take many many gears to kill them anyway, no one is honestly afraid of that.
roflex2 - 14.2.2012 9:43:00
Id love to see some numbers of how effective this is, is it working on a scale that will be useable?
Hwy6AandM0 - 13.2.2012 18:10:39
This is amazing technology. Fantastic stuff. I've met one of the top people in the UT-Dallas engineering school and it does not surprise me to hear that they are involved in this. This is really impressive stuff. Bravo to U of Florida, UTD and TED.
