as it turns out i started working at a reining competition yard a few months ago! there's a stunning palomino gelding there who is named Roy, after Roy Rogers as he looks like Trigger :) however, he's not the best temperament, lol
i've had a few lessons in reining and love it!

It was a partnership, almost akin to Astaire & Rogers.. Just as Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, only backwards, and, in heels. Roy and Trigger had it like that; only, unlike Astaire & Rogers, Roy Rogers & Trigger never parted; that is, until age retired Trigger, who lived to be thirty-three..

Great little piece of trivia: Trigger was the horse used by Olivia DeHavilland in the Warner Bros movie Robin Hood with Errol Flynn.

this makes me want to change from English dressage riding to Western riding <3 What a wonderful man and smart horse. I love how sweet and soft he talks to Trigger, like just as he's leaving and says "come on Trigger" and the horse nods his head - you can understand why they had such a partnership! Roy Rogers sounds like soft butter <3

My wife and I once encountered Roy at his museum in Victorville. There was nobody else there at the time, so we got a personal tour of the museum from Roy. After the tour, he took photos with us. This was one of the highlights of my life, since he was my hero as a child, in the 1940s. He was even a greater guy in person than in the movies and television.

there out west , here in new mexico, I pro rodeoed 10 years in the late 70-s thru the 80-s then I settled in New Mexico, I live in Roswell , but work in Hondo , as a real range detective 5 nights a week , the pay is good and its a peaceful life, Im on myspace as russell the wizzard

War Babies too may I add. We've been lumped in with baby Boomers, but at the time when so many men were off fighting WWII, the adults considered us quite special and separate.

The only fan letter I ever sent was to Roy Rogers when I was in 2nd grade. I got an autographed picture of him on Trigger in return. I believe I invited him and his family to come visit and stay at our house in VT.
